Find out everything about the Tactile Floor

The tactile floor is used in public areas for the orientation of visually handicapped people. There are two models: the "directional", for orientation and the "alert" to warn in the case of a change in direction or danger.

TACTILE SIGNALIZATION ON THE FLOOR
The tactile signalization on the floor can be either the alert or the directional type. Both should have a contrasting color to the adjacent floor and can be overlaid or integrated to the existing floor.

ALERT TACTILE SIGNALIZATION
The texture of the alert signalization consists of a collection of conical trunk reliefs as shown in table 3, disposed according to figure 59. The modulation of the floor should guarantee the continuity of the texture and pattern of information. The alert tactile signalization should be installed perpendicular to the direction of displacement.

DIRECTIONAL TACTILE SIGNALIZATION
AThe directional tactile signalization should have a texture with a trapezoidal section, whatever the adjacent floor; it should be installed in the direction of displacement; have a width between 20 and 60 cm and be color differentiated in relation to the adjacent floor. When the adjacent floor has texture we recommend that the directional tactile signalization be smooth. The texture of the directional tactile signalization consists of linear reliefs, regularly disposed.
